What Happened in the Last 30 Years?

Above is a picture of me (plus my boys and my baby niece) in the early '80s; I'm 30'ish.

I knew absolutely nothing about personal or spiritual development, and at best, my life was half happy.

BUT why? I lived in this house. (I paid £50k for it).

SideNote: Interestingly, property is always an excellent investment, today, that same £50k is worth around £325k, but the house is currently worth around £650k, precisely double!

Yes, I was doing everything I learned, worked hard, made a load of cash, and had a family; if you do all of this, you'll be happy!!!

What a load of B*****k's!

Before we had kids, my first wife and I knew we were not happy; we argued a lot and disagreed about most things, yet we had no idea how to fix it.

I knew after two weeks our relationship was not a great idea, and I bet she did too, but for some crazy reason, we stayed together.

Then we got pregnant, which seemed to make it even worse!

So guess what?

We got pregnant again, then again, but with no clue or understanding of what was not working, how to be in a great relationship, or how to be great parents.

I remember moving to bigger and better houses, thinking she'd be happy in this house, who wouldn't be? It was incredible.

In fact, at one point, we owned two, of what today are million pound-plus houses, and we had way more cash than we ever needed.

But it was still a cat and dog relationship, although not one where the cat and dog got on with each other!

The saddest thing for me today is to know I'm partly responsible for my three boys being brought up in what we now call a 'Dysfunctional Relationship'.

The net result of this is, and Nicki and I say this to couples struggling with their relationship, unconsciously the kids think what they are seeing in your relationship is how it's meant to be.

So guess what? These three lads grew up to have similar crazy relationship challenges they observed us having right here in the picture!

After 20 years, I left that relationship; you could say, I left my family in chaos, all because I did not know what to do to make it better.

Incredibly, I had two more 'Dysfunctional Relationships', both different but not good; no one came out a winner.

I had become a serial relationship loser and left a trail of unhappy losers behind me, with not one of us with a clue about how to live a happy life.

And the crazy thing, I knew once again, within two weeks of being in these relationships, there was something wrong, yet I just pressed the same old button and did it all again.

It took a 'Human Angel' to help me find my path to happiness, where real 'wealth' lives.

Yes, a random stranger, who said years later she saw something in me I could not see.

All she did was give me a book and tell me to read it.

And she had to be very persistent about me reading it because I was too damn busy to see that I was the common denominator in the craziness.

Eventually, I read it, and metaphorically the penny dropped, and my eyes opened up to what I could not previously see, and with it, everything changed.

I am so grateful to that Angel that came into my life because I went on to do what I had never done; I invested in educating myself.

Yes, I learned what I never learned at school; why? Because it's not on the curriculum.

Eventually, I found happiness, and to be honest, all I was doing was looking in the wrong place for it, and like magic, I met Nicki, who, while her story is different, it too is somewhat crazy.

I learned crazy people end up in relationships with other crazy people, so unlearning the crazy s*** we are taught and learning anew is the way ahead if indeed you are looking for that all-so elusive happiness.

If your life is somewhat crazy, I wish for you that a human Angel guides you too to find your path.
